Louisville – Home to the famous Louisville Slugger baseball bat, this city is the 16th largest in the entire United States. It is also home to Papa John’s Pizza and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Louisville is also the birthplace of famous actor Tom Cruise.

Paducah – Paducah was settled in 1815 by a mixture of Native Americans and European settlers. Clark of the famous Lewis and Clark expedition purchased the city for $5.00. Today Paducah is known as a popular place for musicians, especially the blues.

Frankfort – Frankfort is the capital of Kentucky. It currently has a population of slightly fewer than 28,000 residents. Frankfort is also the home of Kentucky State University and has a very diverse mixture of people residing there.

Madisonville – Madisonville is a large industrial and shopping area in Kentucky. It was named in honor of former President James Madison. The city has many large employers including General Electric and Carhartt work clothing.

Lexington – Many consider the horse capital of the world to be Lexington. Here, the Kentucky Derby is hosted every year and is a huge citywide tradition. It is one of the wealthiest cities in all of Kentucky and has a large metropolitan area with plenty of schools and businesses.

Radcliff – Radcliff, Kentucky is well known to have the large Fort Knox Army base located just next to it. The city unfortunately is host to the worst drunk-driving accident in US history, which occurred in 1988. Radcliff has a population of about 22,000 people.

Owensboro – Owensboro is known to many to be the BBQ capital of the world. Each year, the city holds a BBQ festival in May. Owensboro is located near the Ohio River and has four native NASCAR racers, and is also the hometown of actor Johnny Depp.

Woodford – Woodford is the home of the original Kentucky bourbon. The distillery was established in 1812. Woodford has a population of around 23,000 and is near the cities of Midway and Versailles, Kentucky.

Warren – Warren was once an area for Native American tribes and burial grounds. In 1997, the National Arbor Day Foundation named Warren “Tree City USA.” The city has many schools and universities, as well as a large amount of recreational activities including Beech Bend Park which has a raceway and roller coasters.

Franklin – Franklin, Kentucky was named after the famous American Benjamin Franklin. It has a population of around 48,000 people according to the 2000 US census. Franklin is mostly dry land, with only 0.78% percent covered in water.
